Cape May Point State Park

The State parks that are scattered all over the state of New Jersey are some of the most beautiful places and are very popular as tourist spots. Thousands of national and international tourists visit the state parks in New Jersey because they have got lot to offer. Cape May Point State Park is one of the most popular state parks in New Jersey and is visited by large number of tourists everyday.

Cape May Point State Park is located in the Cape May County in the Southern end of New Jersey and is one of the most popular spots for making short trips. The wonderful atmosphere of Cape May Point State Park would surely make you feel fresh and relaxed. Cape May Point State Park comprises 190 acres of fresh wetlands that are adjacent to the ocean where you can perform various recreational activities like swimming, fishing, boating and kayaking. You would also find a wonderful two mile long trails that include one and half mile of boardwalk path. Walk through the trails and take a deep breath and feel fresh.

Apart from that the other major attractions of Cape May Point State Park include a bunker and two gun mounts that were built to protect the Delaware bay during World War II. Don't miss the wonderful view of the ocean and the surrounding areas from the historic lighthouse that was built here in the year 1859. The lighthouse is one of the greatest landmarks not only of the park but of entire Cape May county. It is now maintained by the Mid-Atlantic Center for Arts.

There is also a home-made museum inside Cape May Point State Park where displays on erosion, Lenni-Lenape Indians, seashore life, and Cape May County is held. The large and beautiful salt-water aquarium is also an interesting thing to watch in Cape May Point State Park. After covering the lighthouse and the museum you may go to forest area for activities like bird watching and scavenger hunt or may go towards the beach for watching funny activities of dolphins. Don't miss the beautiful sand dunes that have protected the forest area from the ocean.
