The Absecon Lighthouse is located in the north end of the Atlantic City in New Jersey and overlooks the Absecon Inlet. It is reputed for being the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey and the third tallest lighthouse in United States. Although, it was constructed in the year 1857, the Absecon Lighthouse was deactivated between 1933 and 1997. Today, however, it is open for public visits and also allows tourists to climb to the watch room and the external gallery. The keepers quarter was renovated in the year 2002 to house a museum and a gift shop.
